We are proud to install GeoComfort products

The federal government is currently offering a 30% federal tax credit for installing a qualifying geothermal heat pump in your residence.  This is available to anyone installing a geothermal unit that meets Energy Star 3.0 guidelines in a primary or secondary residence.  Rental units do not qualify.  It can be in new construction or an existing home, replacing a conventional system or an older geothermal unit.  This credit is for 30% of the total, installed cost and has no upper limit.  The way it works is the 30% is taken directly off of the tax you would owe based on your adjusted gross income as determined on your 1040 tax form.  This deduction comes before any money you may have already paid in to the IRS.  The deduction can't take your tax below zero, but it can take it to zero.  In this case you would get back every penny you paid in.  If you can not use all the tax credit in one tax year, the extra can be carried over to future tax years.  You may not get all of the 30% back at once, but you will get it.  The tax credit is good on units put into service on or before December 31, 2016.

Geothermal systems have always had a reputation of being energy efficient and saving the homeowner money.  With the tax credit the cost of buying a geothermal system has been greatly reduced to the point it really should be a "no brainer".  Lets take a look at a real example from a customer earlier this year.  This is for a roughly 2,000 square foot ranch built on Maquoketa Valley REC electric lines with natural gas available
